Gelato. Yum!

I am so excited! We now have gelato downtown. I'm not sure exactly when Napoleon's opened in the Reed Opera House, but last night was the first time I had a chance to wander in a check it out. I was just wandering around before going to a Oregon National Guard dinner for educators at the Red Lion, so I didn't want to ruin my appetite for a great (free) banquet dinner. Which means I just checked it out and drooled. Oh my! Delicious looking, creamy, colorful gelato. Crepes both savory and sweet. Panini sandwiches, salads, and strata. This is definitely a welcome addition to my personal culinary experience here in Salem. I'm not sure what's going on in Salem, but there has been an influx

I also wandered over to SLAB, the soap store in the Reed. I have walked by it so many times thinking that I needed to go in, but this time I actually stopped to smell the soaps and buy a couple for my bath. Now, you'll all be able to find me by following the Black Cherry or Ginger Peach smell wafting off my skin as I walk around town.

How much is he charging at SLAB now per bar? When he first opened (used to be called Kreamy Soaps or something like that) they were only $2 a bar so I used to buy tons of the yuzu. It's great soap! I miss using it, but last time I checked it was a bit out of my price range.

Just saw Napoleons for the first time yesterday morning on our way Busick Court for b'fast. Looked interesting - and we were all surprised that we hadn't seen it before. Definitely going to have to check that little gem out!

They are actually $4 per bar, but this month they are having a Buy 4, Get One Free Sale. That makes them about 3.33 each. A little high, but worth the splurge once in awhile. It's cheaper than Bath and Body Works, if we're talking specialty soaps.

Ooh, that might just be the ticket for dessert next time I take the teenager out for supper. We haven't had gelato in a long time and I think we're overdue. :o)
